Allen Gene was born March 27, 1929 in Dexter, MO. He moved to Columbus, MS in 1964 from Arkansas. He went to William Jewell College for a year or two and then finished at Arkansas State where he met his wife Doris. They got married in 1955. While in South Africa in the service they adopted their son David, when he was 10 months old and who was of German assent. David became a US Citizen on Dec. 14th, 1965.
Allen retired in 1973 as a Major from the United States Air Force after 16 years of service. He served as a chaplain during his career in the Air Force and was a member of First Baptist Church, Columbus, MS. Allen served as a guest speaker at numerous local Baptist churches in the area. He had been a resident of the Mississippi State Veterans Home since 2007. He passed a way at the age of 85 on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014 in Kosciusko, MS.
