Ellis Clayborn Landers

Clayborn Ellis was born January 6, 1917 in Lafe, Arkansas and died May 22,1992.

Clayborn joined the army at 18 and went to Fort Riley where he served in the last horse regiment. He was stationed next in Hawaii where felt called to go into the ministry. Upon completion of his first tour of duty he went to William Jewell College. General Roy Parker who was the United States Army Chaplain became a mentor to Clay and encouraged him to go to William Jewell. He met Marie Winston at Elm Grove Church where he was pastor. They were married June 6, 1943. Clay served as a Chaplain in the service in 1944. After this service he continued his education at Central Seminary eventually receiving two masters and a doctorate. Clay served all his life in various capacities as a minister.

He and Marie had three children, Judy, Mark and Jim.
